Lucrarea a fost în cea mai mare parte distrusă în timpul celui de-al doilea razboi mondial, doar capul rămânând intact, și a fost restaurată în septembrie 1956. Semnat pe spate, dreapta jos, "C. Brâncuși". Sub semnătură este sigla turnătoriei, CIRE/VALSUANI/PERDUE.
