In 1985 Salgado won a World Press Photo award and the Oskar Barnack Award, which he would win again in 1992.
1986
Publishes “Sahel: l'homme en détresse”
The photobook on the Sahel was one of his long-term projects; “Sahel: el fin del camino” followed in 1988, and the University of California Press published it as “Sahel: The End of the Road” in 2004.
