Voor een grot in een rots ligt het dode lichaam van Christus, ondersteund door Maria en twee andere vrouwen. Achter hen Jozef van Arimathea en Nicodemus. Rechts staat Johannes die zijn gezicht bedekt. Rechts op de achtergrond de berg Golgotha met de lege kruizen.
