About the work
Portrait of the artist's friend Ashleigh McLean. She wears a collarless shirt with an elaborate, decorative bow, and her hair is pinned up on one side of her head. Through digital manipulation, the artist converted the color photograph into a black and white image that emphasizes the melanin pigment in the sitter’s skin and highlights blemishes and sun damage.
