This album leaf is Jin Yongxi’s interpretation of the celebrated Yuan master Wang Meng—a creative reimagining of a revered predecessor’s artistic language. The tightly knit composition, animated brushwork, and profusion of textures recall Wang Meng’s characteristic vision of nature as a labyrinthine retreat for the cultivated mind. While filtered through the clarity and restraint of Qing Orthodox painting, the scene preserves the sense of intimacy, learned fellowship, and withdrawal from worldly concerns that made Wang Meng’s landscapes enduring models for later generations.
