Derweil im Leben von Hilma af Klint

Das ganze Leben
  1. 1917

Moves to a new studio on Munsö

She moves into a new studio on the island of Munsö, set up next to her summer house, Furuheim.

  2. 1920

    Meeting Steiner again in Dornach

Years after their first meeting Hilma sees Steiner again, at the Goetheanum in Dornach, Switzerland, the headquarters of the Anthroposophical Society.

  3. c. 1920

    Meeting Peggy Kloppers-Moltzer

In Dornach Hilma meets the Dutch eurythmist Peggy Kloppers-Moltzer, also a member of the Anthroposophical Society. She later travels to Amsterdam to discuss a possible exhibition with the editors of the magazine Wendingen, but the talks come to nothing.

  4. 1920

    Friendship with Thomasine Andersson

After her mother's death Hilma shares a flat with Thomasine Andersson, her mother's nurse; the two remain friends for the rest of their lives.

  5. 1920

    Death of her mother

Hilma's mother, Mathilda af Klint (née Sonntag), dies. The artist then changes her place of residence.

  6. 1920–1930

    Long stays in Dornach

With Thomasine Andersson, Hilma spends much of the decade in Dornach, studying the archives of the Anthroposophical Society in search of the meaning of her paintings (other accounts date the visits from 1921). From 1920 her works show the influence of the society's artistic theories.
