Im Leben von Camille Jacob Pissarro

Das ganze Leben
  1. 1863

    The Salon des Refusés

In 1863 the Salon rejected almost all the paintings of their circle and Napoleon III allowed a separate exhibition; works by Pissarro and Cézanne were among those shown, and although many people came, the exhibition met with a hostile response from both officials and the public.

  2. 20. Februar 1863

    Son born: Lucien Pissarro

  3. 1865

    Daughter born: Jeanne Rachel Pissarro

  4. 1865–1866

Names Melbye and Corot as his masters in the Salon catalogue

At the Salons of 1865 and 1866 Pissarro acknowledged the influence of Melbye and Corot and listed them as his masters in the exhibition catalogue.

  5. 1866

A lighter palette: freeing himself from Corot

From 1866 Pissarro's palette became lighter: the main subject became space pervaded by sunlight and light air, and the neutral tones typical of Corot disappeared.
