Батилиман — урочище на побережье Ласпинской бухты в Балаклавском районе Севастополя. Расположено в 4 км к юго-западу от села Тыловое, в крайней западной части Южного берега Крыма. К западу от урочища находится мыс Айя. Билибин приобрел здесь участок земли с домиком еще в 1910 году, каждое лето проводил в Крыму. С. сентября 1917 по декабрь 1919 жил здесь безвыездно.

Illustrates “A Song about Tsar Ivan Vasilyevich…”
A Song about Tsar Ivan Vasilyevich, a Young Oprichnik and the Successful Merchant Ivan Kalashnikov appeared with Bilibin's illustrations, followed in 1940 by N. V. Vodovozov's Stories of the Capital Kiev and the Russian Bogatyrs.

Refuses to be evacuated from Leningrad
When the Great Patriotic War began, Bilibin refused to leave Leningrad. His last work was a preparatory illustration for the epic Dyuk Stepanovich (1941).

Dies of starvation in besieged Leningrad
Bilibin died of starvation in the Academy of Arts hospital in besieged Leningrad. He was buried in the mass grave of the Academy's professors on Dekabristov Island.
