An annual exhibitor at the Royal Academy
From 1769 until 1782 Kauffman exhibited at the Royal Academy every year, sometimes sending as many as seven pictures, generally on classical or allegorical subjects.

Engravers reproduce her pictures
At the same time Kauffman began to work with engravers who copied her pictures for wide distribution, and she became a commercially successful artist.

Returns to Rome
Disappointed by the relative apathy of the British towards history painting, Kauffman left London, where she had lived for fifteen years, in 1781, after her marriage to Antonio Zucchi, and returned to Rome, where that genre was better known and enjoyed the patronage of patrons and collectors.

Her father, Joseph Johann Kauffmann, dies
In 1782 Angelica’s father, Joseph Johann Kauffmann (1707–1782), died; he was her first teacher of painting, and she had worked and travelled with him through Switzerland, Austria and Italy.
