His will: the fortune goes to a beguine sister

Dying childless in Antwerp, Snyders leaves his fortune to his sister, a beguine. By tradition he had a special bond with the Franciscans and wished to be buried in the Franciscan habit; his extensive collection included works by Rubens, Van Dyck, Van Balen, Jan Brueghel the Elder, Pieter Bruegel the Elder, Jordaens, Lucas van Leyden and Patinir (the dealer Matthijs Musson acquired it).
