Imens i livet hos Karl Schmidt-Rottluff

Hele livet
  1. 1905–1911

The Dresden years: Art Nouveau and Neo-Impressionism

From 1905 to 1911, during the group's stay in Dresden, Schmidt-Rottluff and his fellow members follow a similar path, heavily influenced by Art Nouveau and Neo-Impressionism; his works stand out for their balance of composition and simplicity of form, which exaggerate their flatness.

  2. 1907–1912

    Summers at Dangast

From 1907 to 1912 he spends the summers on the coast at Dangast, near Bremen, drawing a great deal; within the group he is regarded as a loner.

  3. 1910

    Took part in: New Secession

  4. 1911

    Moves to Berlin

In December 1911 he and the other members of Die Brücke move from Dresden to Berlin (other accounts date the move to 1912).

  5. 1911–1912

Journeys to Norway, Italy, Paris and Dalmatia

In 1911 he travels to Norway, and in 1912 he makes trips to Italy, Paris and Dalmatia.
