Imens i livet hos Félix Nadar

Hele livet
  1. 1870

Reconnaissance from balloons during the siege

During the siege of Paris by German troops in 1870 Nadar organised reconnaissance of the enemy army’s movements by means of balloons.

  2. 1870–1871

    The airmail of besieged Paris

During the Siege of Paris in 1870–71 Nadar was instrumental in organising balloon flights carrying mail to reconnect the besieged Parisians with the rest of the world, thus establishing the world’s first airmail service.

  3. after 1871

After the Commune: a move to Sénart

The events of the Paris Commune badly upset Nadar’s finances, and he moved to Sénart, forty kilometres from Paris, from where he organised art exhibitions and wrote books.

  4. 1874

The first Impressionist exhibition in his studio

In April 1874 he lent his photo studio to a group of painters to present the first exhibition of the Impressionists.
