Enrols at the Munich Academy
In 1899 Kubin enrols at the Munich Academy but does not finish his studies there. In Munich he discovers Odilon Redon, Edvard Munch, James Ensor, Henry de Groux and Félicien Rops, and swears to dedicate his life to creating works like the engravings of Max Klinger.

Meets the publisher Hans von Weber
In Munich Kubin meets the publisher Hans von Weber, who two years later brings out a portfolio of reproductions of his work.

Exhibits at the Cassirer Gallery in Berlin
In 1902 Kubin exhibits at the prestigious Cassirer Gallery in Berlin.
1902–1910
Years of oil painting
Between 1902 and 1910 Kubin produces a small number of oil paintings; after that his output consists of pen-and-ink drawings, watercolours and lithographs.

The Hans von Weber Portfolio
The Hans von Weber Portfolio reproduces 15 of Kubin's works on paper as prints, giving his work wider distribution and establishing his fame. According to one contemporary critic, his work occupied “the darkroom of the modern soul”.
