The Departure of the Volunteers in 1792, François Rude's plaster sketch of around 1833 at the Louvre, Paris, develops the upper portion of his Arc de Triomphe relief. The almost square study measures 68 by 65 centimetres. It was located in a private house at Neuilly-sur-Marne in 1899 and subsequently passed through a collection in Pau. Displayed in room 226.
