David Octavius Hill (1802–1870), a Scottish photographer, painter and lithographer, was born in Perth and studied at Perth Academy and Edinburgh College of Art. His 160 museum works include paintings of evening landscapes, woodland and sunset clouds. Yale University Art Gallery and the Scottish National Gallery hold the largest groups, followed by Minneapolis Institute of Art.
