2007–2010
“Take Your Time” — his first major US survey
SFMOMA, with curator Madeleine Grynsztejn, presents Eliasson's first major survey in the United States, spanning his work from 1993 to 2007; the museum's skylight bridge is turned into the installation “One-way colour tunnel”. The exhibition then tours to the Museum of Modern Art and P.S.1 in New York (2008), Dallas (2008–2009), Chicago (2009) and Sydney (2009–2010).
April 2009
Opens the Institute for Spatial Experiments
As professor at the Berlin University of the Arts from 2009 to 2014, he founds the Institute for Spatial Experiments (IfREX), which opens in April 2009 within his studio building.

Returns the Quadriga award
Eliasson, who received a Quadriga award in 2010, returns it a year later after it is revealed that Vladimir Putin would be recognised in 2011.

Founds the company Little Sun
With the engineer Frederik Ottesen he founds Little Sun, a company that produces solar-powered LED lamps.
