Interior, after Dinner (French: Intérieur, Après dîner) is an oil-on-canvas painting by French artist Claude Monet (1840–1926) created during the winter of 1868–1869, a productive time for the painter. He spent the winter in Étretat with his girlfriend Camille Doncieux and their newborn son.

London exile
Evading conscription during the Franco-Prussian War, Monet lived in London, where he studied Constable and Turner, met Pissarro and Whistler, and became acquainted with his first and principal dealer, Paul Durand-Ruel — an encounter decisive for his career.

Zaandam: 25 paintings
Leaving London, Monet settled in Zaandam in the Netherlands, where he painted twenty-five pictures (the police suspected him of revolutionary activity). During this period he also made his first visit to Amsterdam.
