完整生平1974
Death of his daughter Andrea
His daughter Andrea is killed in a plane crash in Tikal, Guatemala. The loss shapes much of his later work, and his reputation as a recluse who declines most interviews and public appearances grows particularly after it.
c. 1974
His son Pablo’s illness
Around this time his son Pablo is first hospitalized and diagnosed with schizophrenia.
1984
The Democratic Convention, music videos and Pace/MacGill
Despite his reputation as a recluse he continues to accept eclectic assignments, such as photographing the 1984 Democratic National Convention and directing music videos for New Order (“Run”) and Patti Smith (“Summer Cannibals”). His work has been represented by Pace/MacGill Gallery in New York since 1984.
