Tablo hakkında
Marie Laurencin painted Bacchante in 1911; it is in the Hermitage, Saint Petersburg. The reclining woman shares features with the artist and recalls figures in Ingres's Grande Odalisque and Matisse's Joy of Life. Pale colours, delicate transitions and simplified forms give her an almost weightless presence, typical of Laurencin's imagined world. Sergei Shchukin acquired the work in 1913 or 1914 for his Moscow collection. Its present title was assigned after it arrived in Russia. The painting is displayed in room 418.
