Eser hakkında

Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler opened the Galerie Kahnweiler in Paris in 1907 and was Picasso’s first dealer. At the beginning of World War I, he was forced to leave the country because of his German citizenship, and it was during this time of exile, in 1915, that he wrote a perceptive early essay on Picasso’s prewar work, called “The Rise of Cubism.” As recent scholars have noted, Kahnweiler was the first to interpret Picasso’s approach to art as a language, and to suggest, in this and later writings, a link between Cubist works and what he called “scripts” or sign systems.
