Eser hakkında
Allegorical vignette representing philosophy from a series of twelve (including title page). The title is lettered in the center, within a partly ruined arch, surrounded by trees and plants. A sun dial above on the center of the arch with a barometer along the right side of the arch. Below the arch a putto sits holding his head in his hand, reading a book with a quill in his other hand, surrounded by scientific instruments and devices, a microscope, mirror, shells, coral, a lobster, fossils, with a bookcase behind him. A roundel portrait of Descartes is in the center below the putto. Lettering below the vignette and the plate is signed.
