Om verket
Hubert Robert’s Vaulted Staircase, painted about 1770–79, is in the Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland. An inscription above the arched entrance appears to refer to his Russian patron, Count Alexander Sergeyevich Stroganov. The count lived in the French capital from 1770 to 1779, commissioning a group of large paintings from Robert during those years.
