Om målningen
The Trap, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec’s oil painting of 1880, is held by Washington’s National Gallery of Art. A grey-blue horse draws a small carriage, with one person seated inside and another standing ahead of the horse. Green and brown strokes suggest dense foliage around them. The wooden panel is only 15.9 centimetres high, with thick brushwork visible across its surface.
