Om verket

The Goldsmith is a small print of 1655 by Rembrandt, now in Washington's National Gallery of Art. A craftsman works beside a human figure on a pedestal, with a furnace behind him and tools nearby. The composition uses both etching and drypoint. This sheet is only 8 centimetres high and 5.8 centimetres wide; it is an impression of the first of two states recorded by White and Boon.
