Entretanto, na vida de Alexandra Exter

A vida inteira
  1. 1905–1920

The Exter house in Kyiv: a salon-studio

From 1905 (other accounts say 1906) she lives on the second floor of her father-in-law's house on Gimnazicheskaya Street and sets up a salon-studio there, a meeting place for Kyiv's avant-garde; according to other accounts, the attic studio stood at 27 Funduklievskaya Street (now Bohdan Khmelnytsky Street) and drew the city's whole intellectual elite.

  2. 1912

Meets Ardengo Soffici and the Italian Futurists

In Italy she meets the Futurist painter Ardengo Soffici and, through him, the country's leading avant-garde artists, and takes part in their exhibitions.

  3. February 1912

Exhibits with the “Jack of Diamonds”

She is among the participants in most of the major exhibitions of the Russian avant-garde: the “Jack of Diamonds” (February 1912), the Union of Youth, “Tramway V” and others.

  4. October 1912

The “Section d'Or” exhibition in Paris

Under the name Alexandra d'Exter she shows six works at the Salon de la Section d'Or at the Galerie La Boétie, alongside Jean Metzinger, Albert Gleizes, Marcel Duchamp and others; in March of the same year she had taken part in the Salon des Indépendants in Paris.

  5. 1913–1914

The “Koltso” group and its Kyiv exhibition

In 1913 she helps organise “Koltso” (The Ring), a Cubo-Futurist art group; in 1914 she takes part in organising and exhibiting at the group's show in Kyiv.

  6. 1914

    International Futurist Exhibition in Rome

She exhibits at the International Futurist Exhibition in Rome together with the other “Russians” — Archipenko, Kulbin and Olga Rozanova.
