Antonio Corradini carved Adonis around 1723–1725; the Carrara marble is in New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art. The reclining youth appears asleep, recalling the related story of Endymion, though eighteenth-century inventories identify him as Adonis. He once lay beside a reclining Venus in the Sagredo family's Venetian palace. That companion sculpture is now lost. On view in gallery 506.
