Flees Nazi Germany for England
In the spring of 1933, amid rising antisemitism and the Nazis' rise to power, Mendelsohn fled to England. The Nazis seized his assets, struck his name from the list of the German Architects' Union and expelled him from the Prussian Academy of Arts.
1933–1936
Partnership with Serge Chermayeff in England
In England Mendelsohn formed an architectural practice with Serge Chermayeff that lasted until the end of 1936; together they designed two important private houses, Cohen House in Chelsea and Shrubs Wood (Nimmo House) in Buckinghamshire.

Projects in Palestine for Chaim Weizmann
Mendelsohn had long known Chaim Weizmann, later President of Israel, and at the start of 1934 he began planning a series of projects in Mandatory Palestine on Weizmann's behalf.
1935
Opens an office in Jerusalem
In 1935 Mendelsohn opened an office in Jerusalem and designed buildings of Jerusalem stone in the International Style that greatly influenced local architecture.
