Intussen, in het leven van Joan Miró

Het hele leven
  1. second half of the 1920s

A language of signs and ideograms

In “Person Throwing a Stone at a Bird” and “Dog Barking at the Moon” (both 1926) a set of recurrent ideograms took shape: symbols of space — horizon, waves, heavenly bodies — and “mediating symbols” — birds, a ladder to the sky, an eye, an ear, a figure with giant feet.

  2. 1926

Designs for Diaghilev with Max Ernst

Miró collaborated with Max Ernst on designs for the ballet impresario Sergei Diaghilev.

  3. 12 October 1929

    Marries Pilar Juncosa

In Palma de Mallorca Miró married Pilar Juncosa, a native of the island.

  4. from the 1930s

    The “assassination of painting”

From the 1930s Miró said in interviews that he despised conventional painting methods as props of bourgeois society and declared an “assassination of painting”. Against Cubism, by then an established form, he vowed to “break their guitar”, meaning Picasso's.

  5. 17 July 1930

Birth of his daughter María Dolores

Miró and Pilar had a daughter, María Dolores.

  6. 17 juli 1930
