Over het werk

Babhruvahana, son of Arjuna, reads a note that was attached to the Arjuna's sacrificial horse (meant for the sacred horse sacrifice, the Asvamedha) sent to roam freely over the world. The note contains all the information about the horse's owner. The horse is mottled white and beautifully saddled and adorned. Scene from the Jaimini Asvamedha, a text by the Marathi author Sridhara (c. 1678-1730).
