    Leaves home to devote himself to painting

    In 1905 Lhote left home and moved into a studio of his own in order to devote himself entirely to painting.

    First one-man exhibition at the Galerie Druet

    Lhote, who had been influenced by Gauguin and Cézanne, held his first one-man exhibition at the Galerie Druet, four years after moving to Paris.

  5. 1912

    Joins the Section d’Or group

    After an initial Fauvist phase Lhote turned to Cubism and in 1912 joined the Section d’Or group, exhibiting at the Salon de la Section d’Or alongside Gleizes, Villon, Duchamp, Metzinger, Picabia and La Fresnaye.
