In het leven van Adam Elsheimer
Het hele leven1606–1608
Converts from Lutheranism to Catholicism
He converts to Catholicism by 1608, possibly as early as 1606, following the path of his Roman friends Faber and Bril.
1609
A son is born
Elsheimer and Carola have a son. He is not mentioned in the census a year later, possibly because he had been put out to a wet-nurse.
1610
Debts and hardship at the end of his life
In spite of his fame and talent, he appears to have lived and died in difficult financial circumstances: at his death Paul Bril was still owed money by him. According to one account, borrowing from Goudt once led to his brief imprisonment in a debtors’ prison.
