In het leven van Jean Cocteau

Het hele leven
  1. 1940–1944

The occupation years: “La Gerbe” and accusations of collaboration

From the start of the occupation he published in the weekly “La Gerbe,” kept up friendships with Arno Breker and Leni Riefenstahl, and saw five new plays staged in Paris theatres. Resistance fighters accused him of collaboration, but he escaped censure after the Liberation, though he never repented of his sympathies for the Germans.

    Louis Delluc Prize

  3. 1947

Erotic drawings for “Querelle de Brest”

Paul Morihien published a clandestine edition of Jean Genet’s “Querelle de Brest” with 29 very explicit erotic drawings by Cocteau.

  4. 1947

    Settles in Milly-la-Forêt

From 1947 he lived in Milly-la-Forêt, where he later decorated the Chapelle Saint-Blaise des Simples and where he died.
