Founds the magazine De Stijl
Together with Piet Mondrian, Bart van der Leck, Antony Kok, Vilmos Huszár and Jacobus Oud, van Doesburg founds the magazine De Stijl, in which he sets out the programme of the new movement, and becomes the “ambassador” of Neoplasticism, promoting its ideas across Europe.
1917
A journey through Germany, Austria and Czechoslovakia
During the journey van Doesburg widely promotes his theory — the attempt to reduce the objective harmony of a work of art, in all its forms, to certain geometric elements. The new principles soon have a marked influence on architecture, literature, graphic art and music.
