Portrait by Linda Sutton of the opera singer Angela Gheorghiu, late 2000s, signed by the artist and the subject.
Artist Linda Sutton has specialised in figurative and narrative painting, often with a mythological or literary subject matter. A series inspired by opera includes paintings of famous contemporary female singers in symbolic settings. Sutton used a detail of this painting on the contact page of her website.
The portrait was owned by Anthony Gasson (died 2012), an enthusiastic collector of opera memorabilia.
