Maria en Jozef komen aan bij het huis van Maria's nicht Elisabet. Maria en Elisabet geven elkaar een hand voor de deuropening en begroeten elkaar vormelijk. Achter Maria staat Jozef met een ezel.

Having returned from Italy to the Netherlands, Cort left again for Venice shortly after 1567, and from there traveled to Bologna and Rome, where he engraved after the paintings of the great masters of the time.
