“Maman” in the Turbine Hall of Tate Modern
Bourgeois’s works were chosen for the opening of Tate Modern in 2000, and in the Turbine Hall, as a commission for the Unilever Series, “Maman” first appeared: a spider over nine metres high in steel and marble, later cast in an edition of six bronzes.
