Hercules vecht met de riviergod Acheloüs die de gedaante van een stier aangenomen heeft. Het gaat om de gunst van Deïanira de dochter van de riviergod Oeneus. Hercules breekt de stier de horens af. Op de achtergrond is te zien hoe nimfen een van de horens vullen en gebruiken als hoorn des overvloeds.
