Greyscale watercolour illustration created for publication in an illustrated newspaper or magazine, probably The Penny Illustrated Press. The sketches show scenes from 'The Great Dinner given by H.M. the King to Half a Million of his Subjects on July 5th 1902'.
The scenes include groups at Olympia, at Madame Tussauds, The Prince of Wales reading a bulletin to a group at Bishop's Park, Fulham and groups at Drury Lane Theatre and the Headquarters of the London Scottish Volunteers.
The artist is not identified.
This item is one of several theatrical drawings from a collection of sketches commissioned from contemporary artists to be printed in illustrated magazines. The collection was donated to the museum by Sir William James Ingram in 1914.
