Napoleon, met naast zich een arabier met een kromzwaard en een man met steek en sabel, geeft opdracht Berlijn te veroveren. Achter trekt een leger voorbij, vóór hem een vrouw met kinderen op een ezel, een hond en enige bizarre figuren die volgens de onderschriften "grand voyeur", "tondeur", "receveur", "tambour major" en "grand sappeur de l'empire" zijn.

    Founds the Berlin Artists’ Association

    He founds the Berlin Artists’ Association (Berlinischer Künstlerverein) and becomes its chairman.

    Victory emblem on the quadriga changed after Napoleon’s defeat

    Originally the emblem of victory held by Victoria consists of a helmet on a spear, armour and two shields in the antique manner. After the victory over Napoleon it is changed to a sketch by Schinkel: the spear is crowned with an oak wreath around an iron cross, on which sits a crowned Prussian eagle with spread wings.

    Widowed

    In 1815 Schadow is widowed; two years later he marries again.

    Director of the Academy

    In 1816 he becomes director of the Prussian Royal Academy of Arts.

  5. 1817

    Second marriage to Caroline Henriette Rosenstiel

    He marries Caroline Henriette Rosenstiel (1784–1832); the couple has four children, born between 1818 and 1824.
