Sull’opera

Born into the Yoshida family of artists, Yoshida Tsukasa is a fourth-generation Yōga (Western-style Japanese painting) painter and a third-generation printmaker. He is the son of Yoshida Tōshi and grandson of Hiroshi, both known for their prints. He is the current head of the International Yoshida Hanga Academy, whcih was founded by Tōshi in 1972 to promote the growth and dissemination of Japanese prints.

Tsukasa is known for prints of landscapes and animals, especially cats. In this print, which he also produced in color, seven cats sit or walk around in the frame, some gazing outwards at the viewer with curiosity.
