    Lives at Strandgade 30

    From 1898 to 1909 he lives with his wife at Strandgade 30, where he paints many of his best-known interiors. Ida often appears in them, usually seen from behind, and is also the model in similar works by her brother Peter Ilsted, Hammershøi’s lifelong friend, business partner and colleague.

  2. 1909–1910

    Becomes a member of the Royal Academy of Arts

    He becomes a member of the Royal Academy of Arts. Hammershøi was also a prizewinner at international art exhibitions in Italy and the United States.

  3. 1913–1916

    Lives at Strandgade 25

    From 1913 to 1916 he lives with his wife at Strandgade 25, where, as at Strandgade 30, he paints many of his celebrated interiors.
