Nella vita di Nan Goldin

Tutta la vita
  1. 2009

Guest of honor at Rencontres d'Arles

She screens the “Ballad” with live music by The Tiger Lillies, shows her slideshow and film installation “Sisters, Saints and Sibyls”, and curates the festival's main show “Nan's Guests”, with thirteen photographers including Antoine d'Agata, Boris Mikhailov and Anders Petersen; she also picks Leigh Ledare for a solo show.

  2. 2010

    Advertising campaigns for fashion houses

She shoots the spring/summer 2010 campaigns for the Australian label Scanlan & Theodore (with model Erin Wasson) and the Italian house Bottega Veneta, whose campaign evokes her Ballad; later she works for Jimmy Choo (2011), Dior (2013, featuring Robert Pattinson) and Gucci (2024).

  3. 2012

An exhibition is censored in Brazil

Two months before it opens, Goldin's exhibition in Brazil is censored for its sexual explicitness: some photographs show children in bed with their naked, caressing parents, and Brazilian law prohibits images of minors associated with pornography. The sponsor, a cellphone company, says it was unaware of the content of her work and that it conflicts with its educational project, and the curator of the Rio de Janeiro Museum of Modern Art changes the schedule to accommodate the exhibition in February 2012.

  4. 2012

    Edward MacDowell Medal

She receives the 53rd Edward MacDowell Medal from the MacDowell Colony in Peterborough, New Hampshire.
