Een pijp rokende man bij een tafel waarop vissen en andere zeedieren liggen. Op de muur hangt een afbeelding van het sterrenbeeld ram. Door een venster op de achtergrond een gezicht op een stormachtige zee. Onder de voorstelling een vers in Latijn van twee keer vier regels.
