Nella vita di Vera Mukhina
Tutta la vita1918
Marriage to Aleksey Zamkov
Mukhina married Aleksey Zamkov, who became a professor of medicine and is considered one of the prototypes of Professor Preobrazhensky in Mikhail Bulgakov's “Heart of a Dog”.
1918
Design for a monument to N. I. Novikov
Under Lenin's plan of monumental propaganda Mukhina designed a monument to the educator Nikolay Novikov; Narkompros approved it, but the clay model cracked from the cold in an unheated studio and the monument was never built.
1920s
From Cubism to Socialist Realism
In the 1920s Mukhina became one of the most prominent Soviet sculptors: she was still producing Cubist sculpture as late as 1922, but went on to become a leading figure of Socialist Realism, both in style and in ideology.
1925
A Grand Prix in Paris for a clothing collection
With the fashion designer Nadezhda Lamanova, Mukhina won the Grand Prix at an exhibition in Paris for a collection of elegant women's clothing made of cheap coarse fabrics — cloth, calico, canvas and flannel; the dresses were decorated with her invented “cockerel pattern”.
