Nella vita di Alessandro Allori

Tutta la vita
  1. 1572

Bronzino's death and the signature “Bronzino”

After the death of his teacher Agnolo Bronzino he begins to sign his works in his honor — “Alessandro Bronzino” or “Alessandro Bronzino Allori” (Sandrino for short) — which is why he is often confused with Agnolo Bronzino himself; later his son Cristofano also sometimes uses the name Bronzino.

  2. 1573

First Consul of the Accademia del Disegno

In 1573 he serves as First Consul of the Accademia del Disegno. In the prime of his career he heads one of the two most important workshops in Florence of the second half of the 16th century; the other was led by Santi di Tito.

  3. 1576 or 1581

Head of the Medici tapestry workshop

Becomes head of the Arazzeria Medicea, Florence's state-owned tapestry workshop, and designs many cartoons for woven tapestries himself; by one account this happens in 1576, by another in 1581.

  4. 17 ottobre 1577

    Son born: Cristofano Allori

  5. from 1580

Working with Butteri at Badia a Passignano

From 1580 he works together with Giovanni Maria Butteri at Badia a Passignano.
