Sulla scultura

This head of a monk, nearly life-size, possesses the warmth and tranquility characteristic of the Song and Yuan period. The figure’s expression is serene, its downcast eyes indicating meditation and inward vision. Unlike the sovereignty and majesty usually expressed in earlier Buddhist figures, this stone head appears more secularized.
