Nel frattempo, nella vita di George Stubbs

Tutta la vita
  1. 1766

    The Anatomy of the Horse

His major work, The Anatomy of the Horse, is published; the original drawings are now in the collection of the Royal Academy.

  2. from October 1772

President of the Society of Artists

For a year from October 1772 he serves as President of the Society of Artists, which is by then beset by financial problems and defections to the Royal Academy.

  3. 1775

Switches allegiance to the Royal Academy

He switches his allegiance from the Society of Artists to the recently founded but already more prestigious Royal Academy of Arts.

  4. c. 1794

    Conversations with Ozias Humphry

In a series of private conversations with his fellow artist and friend Ozias Humphry, the seventy-year-old Stubbs talks about his life; Humphry's informal memoir, never intended for publication, became almost the only source of information on his first thirty-five years.

  5. 1795–1806

Last project: a comparative anatomical exposition

From 1795 he works on A Comparative Anatomical Exposition of the Structure of the Human Body with that of a Tiger and a Common Fowl; fifteen engravings from it appeared between 1804 and 1806, and the project was left unfinished at his death.
