Rechts Hendrik van Lotharingen, verkleed als Romeins strijder, staand op een salamander getrokken door een zwaan. Links een groep muzikanten op de rug van een feniks. Daaronder drie triomfwagens, één met de Volharding getrokken door de Tijd, één met de Standvastigheid getrokken door een draak en één met de Trouw getrokken door twee honden. Boven de voorstelling een opschrift in het Frans, eronder een gedrukte verklarende tekst in het Frans. Deze prent is ooit bedoeld geweest als onderdeel van een serie illustraties voor een boek over de festiviteiten (o.a. een toernooi) in het hertogelijk paleis te Nancy op 14 februari 1627, maar daar nooit daadwerkelijk in terecht gekomen.

In Utrecht Callot meets the Caravaggist G. van Honthorst, one of the main representatives of the school of the Utrecht Caravaggisti.

Declines to serve Louis XIII
King Louis XIII of France offers Callot a place at his court, but the artist declines; by one account, as a patriot of Lorraine he could not forgive the king for the devastation of his homeland by French troops.
