Joins the Leiden Guild of St Luke
In 1648, together with Jan Steen, Joris van Schooten, David Bailly and Pieter de Ring, he was registered among the first members of the newly founded Leiden Guild of St Luke.

Drops out of the guild lists; possibly trains in Utrecht
In 1650 his name disappeared from the Leiden guild’s lists; he may have trained for some months in Utrecht under the Catholic painters Nicolaus Knüpfer and Jan Baptist Weenix.
