All dressed up with tie & tweed jacket, recently matriculated for M.A. at U.C. Berkeley, I'd just written Part II _Howl_, _Supermarket in California_, & _Sunflower Sutra_, clean-shaven poet, on Berkeley Street lighting a coffin-nail, camera in Peter Orlovsky's hands, 1956., Allen Ginsberg, 1956, printed later

Robert Frank & his car rented for him by Atlantic Center For Arts where we taught together three weeks with jazz drum genius Elvin Jones. We’d come to town New Smyrna Beach on errands, he showed me how to use his polaroid 195 that gives negative, but when we washed it in his plastic container of water, car-heat-cooked in Florida mid-day sun, the emulsion cracked, dissolved—this copy print from original is o.k. to catch his smile at my amateur focus, June 1984., Allen Ginsberg, 1984

Harry Smith talking to Scotch folk-singer English Professor at University of Mississippi who drove me to visit Ike's Barber Shop in Clarksdale-- Ike had played in Black rhythm & Blues bands around the 40's Country & his shop was legendary social center after he'd returned to his home town-- Harry came to record the rhythm of his barber scissors & razor strapping as we spent the afternoon hanging out & listening to the jukebox by the bar, back of the Barbershop. Later we drove across the Mississippi River & returned to "ole' Miss" at Oxford by midnight, April 19, 1987., Allen Ginsberg, 1987
